You know how we love to bring you Industrial Design at Brigham Young University and not only has created this cool little project, but is also telling us how to do it.

And if you want to do it for yourself, he even posted it to MakeZine.com with full instructions so you too can have your own BB-8 Star Wars and combined it with his talent to create something pretty awesome.

Here he explains why he did it:

As an industrial designer, I’ve been particularly fascinated by products that have personality and emotion. And I think the droids in Star Wars have always been really great at capturing a character without facial expression and drawing you in. And BB-8 was no different when they brought it out onstage for the first time.

And here is some more about why he enjoyed this project so much:

Part of what I really enjoyed about the process of making it was the timeline. Most character and personality of the real robot as simply as possible, and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

Here he posts a video to YouTube of himself playing catch with the homemade BB-8 Droid. You can see more of his work at: http://www.3d.us/ and here: https://instagram.com/3d/
